How to Unlock

The first named boss of the campaign. Falls at the end of Mission: Last Meal — the Omega Dead trophy is the second story trophy in the game, so every player meets him early in the Canada act.

Mission: Last Meal

How the Encounter Starts: Unmissable story battle — the fight starts automatically as the mission's climax. Nothing to collect, buy or equip first beyond the gear you already have from the opening missions.

Boss Mechanics

The First Real Skill Check

Omega Red is where the game stops teaching and starts grading. His reach and grab pressure punish players who mash light attacks, and the fight is the first that expects the full defensive kit: dodge the heavy stuff, parry what glows blue, and punish the recovery windows instead of trading health.

Spacing Wins the Opening

Arkady's threat scales with how close you stand. Bait committed swings from mid-range, then close the gap for a two-to-three hit punish and back out. Greed is the only way to lose this fight on normal difficulty — the recovery windows are generous if you let them happen.

💡 Blue-glowing attacks are parry food. Learn the rule here: the Hand in Japan and both late-game duels assume it is muscle memory.

Step-by-Step Strategy

Preparation

Craft at least one suit before the fight if you have materials banked — every crafted suit adds health, and health is the cheapest difficulty slider in the game. Beyond that, no consumables or special prep exist at this point in the campaign; the fight is a pure mechanics exam.

The Core Loop

  • Stay at mid-range and let him commit; do not chase.
  • Parry every blue-glowing attack — the stagger opens your biggest punish windows.
  • Feed Tornado Spin into the recovery after his heavy strings (the prologue special is off cooldown often).
  • If the fight drags, Berserker Rage builds fast from clean parries — spend it at Tier 2+ rather than holding it.

After the Kill

The Omega Dead trophy lands automatically. The Canada act continues toward the highway chase and refinery — keep opening Material Crates, the suit track is the real boss of the first half of the game.

Rewards

  • Omega Dead (trophy, automatic)
  • Story progression into the heart of the Canada act
